士志于道，而耻恶衣恶食者，未足与议也

格言大意：一个人有志于追求真理，但却对穿不好吃不好感到羞耻，这样的人不能够和他商议大事。
Main Idea:You can not consult with a person who is assumed to pursue truth but feels ashamed of humble food and shabby clothes.
洪承畴降清（Hong Chengchou surrending to Qing）
明清末年，大将洪承畴与清军作战，兵败被俘。清朝的大臣范文程看到洪承畴在狱中还要把衣服上的灰尘弹去，断定他一定会投降。洪承畴投降了清朝，成了明朝的叛徒，被后人耻笑。
In the last years of the Ming Dynasty ,General Hong Chengchou fought Qing’s army. His army was routed and he was captured. When Fan Wencheng ,a minister of the Qing’s Dynasty, noticeed that Hong Chengchou would dust the dirt off his clothes even in prison.He was sure that Hong Chengchou would surrender . Hong Chengchou surrendered to Qing and became a teaitor of the Ming Dynasty ,being ridiculed by later generations.
