不别亲疏，不殊贵贱，一断于法
——《史记·太史公自序》
格言大意：不分亲疏，不分贵贱，一切用法律来判断。
Main Idea: Everything should be judged by law, no matter who did it ,noble or humble ,close or distant to the law-executor.
强项令董宣（Dong Xuan the upright officer）
光武帝刘秀的姐姐有一个管家，目无王法，被董宣处死。刘秀的姐姐哭诉到朝廷，让刘秀治董宣的罪。刘秀知道董宣是清官，但为了对姐姐有个交代，就然董宣想姐姐道个歉。董宣坚决不肯。刘秀被董宣严于执法的精神所感动，不仅没有治他的罪，反而重赏了他。
Liu Xiu , Emperor Guang Wu of the Han Dynasty had a sister . Her butler violated the law and was sentenced to death by Dong Xuan . Liu Xiu’s sister cried in the palance and asked Liu Xiu to punish Dong Xuan .Liu Xiu knew Dong Xuan was a good official but he asked Dong Xuan to apolagize to his sister in order to satisfy her ,Dong Xuan would not do it. Liu Xiu was moved by Dong Xuan’spirit in keeping the law ,He didn’t punish him ,but granted him a great reward.
