曲突徙薪（Bending chimney and moving firewood）

  有一个人去朋友家做客，见那家灶房的烟囱太直，烧火用的柴草离灶口很近，就劝他改一改。主人没听劝告，不久家里果然失火，邻里众人共同扑救。主人杀牛置酒，答谢帮助救火的人。突然想到如果当初听了朋友的话，就不会有火灾。于是又将那位朋友请为座上宾。
A man paid a visit to his friend’s home .He noticed that the chimney of the kitchen was too straight and the firewood was too close to the stove, so he tried to persuade his friend to make some changes .The host didn’t follow his advice and his house caught fire before long .All the people from neighborhood came to help him put out the fire. The host expressed his appreciation to the people who helped him put out the fire by giving them beef and banquet .Suddenly he realized that if he had followed his friend’s words before, the fire wouldn’t have happened. So he invited that friend to be his distinguished guest.
