胜人者有力，自胜者强
——《老子》第三十三章
格言大意：能够战胜别人是有力量的表现，而能够战胜自己才算是强者。
Main Idea: To defeat others is a sign of strength but a great man must defeat himself .
孙膑刖足（Sun Bin had his kneecaps cut out）
孙膑和庞涓都曾跟随鬼谷子学习兵法。孙膑的学业远远胜于庞涓，庞涓很嫉妒他。后来，孙膑受庞涓陷害，被魏王剜掉了两个膝盖骨。孙膑残疾后，并不气馁，靠装疯骗过了庞涓。后来他设法回到了齐国，受到了重用。在魏国和齐国的战争中，孙膑用妙计战胜了庞涓。
Both Sun Bin and Pang Juan learned the art of war from Guiguzi .Sun Bin did much better than Pang Juan and Pang Juan was deeply jealous of him .Later Sun Bin was framed by Pang Juan and the Prince of Wei had his kneecaps cut out .Disabled Sun Bin was not discouraged and tricked Pang Juan by pretending to be mad .Later he managed to come back to the state of Qi and was given to a key position .In the battle between Wei and Qi ,Sun Bin overwhelmed Pang Juan with clever tricks.
