格言大意:练习一千支乐曲之后才能懂得音乐,观察过一千柄剑之后才会识别兵器。

Main Idea: You cannot understand music until you practiced one thousand pieces of music. You won’t know how to choose weapons until you have observed one thousand swords.

   南朝齐梁时期人刘勰,由于家境清贫,长期寄居在寺庙里。在此期间,他除了研究佛经外,还饱览历代典籍和诗文。有了丰富的阅读经验后,刘勰对为文之道有了深切的体会。于是,他花了五六年时间写成文艺理论著作《文心雕龙》,对后世影响很大。
    Liu Xie living in Qi and Liang of the Southern Dynasties, used to lodge in a temple for a long time due to his purerished family. During that period, apart from studying Buddhist Scriptures, he also had a great time reading classics and fine words handed down for generations. Having accumulated a rich experience of reading, Liu Xie gained a deep understanding of the principle of writing. Then he spent half dozen years completing his famous work on the theory of literature called The Literary Mind and the Carving of the Dragon which greatly influenced later generations.
